- Gearhead Curios: A beacon for Route 66 enthusiasts, it stands as a testament to the bygone era of American road travel. Built from native stone in 1939 this restored Texaco filling station has been transformed into a vibrant homage to the Mother Road. Nestled in the heart of Galena, Kansas it houses a treasure trove of Route 66 memorabilia. Vintage gas pumps, neon signs, and classic automotive artifacts adorn the walls. A centerpiece of the collection is the iconic "Doc" Hudson, a replica of the 1951 Hudson Hornet from the beloved Disney Pixar film "Cars." Installed in 2024 is Big A, a one-of-a-kind Texaco Giant paying tribute to the Texaco Big Friend of the 1960’s. Next to Big A is an American Flag made from 169 Kansas license plates. If you need a restroom stop with advance notice, Aaron will reserve a parking space on Main Street in front of his shop. He has only one restroom, and it is so unique that people will spend more time taking pictures of it than using it, however it is near the park where there are additional restrooms. To be sure the restrooms are open, you must call Aaron in advance.

- Streetcar Station Coffee Shop: is located across the street from Gearheads. Kathy will prepare box lunches for the group. They can eat them in the coffee shop, at the tables outside or in the park across the Street. The Coffee Shop also has restrooms which makes 3 locations within a half block.

- Cars on the Route: Nestled along the historic Route 66 in Galena, Kansas, "Cars on the Route" is more than just a roadside attraction; it's a tangible connection to the beloved Pixar film, "Cars." This restored 1934 Kan-O-Tex service station served as the inspiration for the iconic character, Tow Mater. The station's exterior retains its original vintage appeal, complete with a towering gas pump and weathered signage. Inside, visitors can explore a collection of "Cars" memorabilia, including character replicas, toys, and souvenirs. The highlight, however, is the life-size replica of Tow Tater, the tow truck that inspired the character of Tow Mater©, who stands proudly outside, ready to greet fans of all ages. A short distance from it is the "Sheriff's" car from the Pixtar film. Approaching from the main road, the parking lot looks like a motorcoach can pull in, however, coming out the other side it would get hung up. Best to park on the road in front of it. A burger restaurant is located inside Cars. Call Renee and she will open special for groups on days she is normally closed. Just east of Cars, on the original Route 66, is Luigi’s Pitstop, a great selfie spot. You will also find a drive through arch with the Route 66 shield on this section of the Route.

- Galena KS Mining and Historical Museum: Established in 1984 to preserve the history of Galena, it is housed in the old Missouri-Kansas-Texas train depot. The museum features a variety of exhibits on the history of Galena, including mining, railroading, pioneer life, Native American history, and local culture. It is a great place to learn about the history of Galena and the surrounding area. It is also a popular stop for tourists visiting Route 66.

Riverton, KS
- Nelsons Old Riverton Store: Nestled along Route 66 in Riverton, Kansas, is a captivating piece of Americana history. Originally constructed in 1925 by Leo Williams, it has remained a vibrant hub for the community and a valued stop for Route 66 travelers. The store's charm lies in its authenticity. It has retained its original structure and much of its interior, offering a glimpse into the past. Travelers can still find classic grocery items, local produce, and a delightful selection of Route 66 memorabilia. The store's warm atmosphere and friendly staff contribute to its appeal. In 2011, the store was honored by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places, recognizing its significant contribution to the history of Route 66. Box lunches are available if you call ahead for arrangements.

Baxter Springs, KS
- Rainbow Bridge: Also known as the Brush Creek Bridge, it is an historic landmark on Route 66 in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Built in 1923, this unique and graceful structure is the sole surviving Marsh arch bridge on the entire length of the former Route 66 highway. It is known for its graceful, curved design that creates a "rainbow" appearance. It has been bypassed by a modern roadway, however the new bridge that crosses Brush Creek also had a 10-ton limit sign. It has been amended to say "Weight limit 10 tons--Passenger buses exempt." There is a large pull off for motorcoaches to stop.
- Baxter Springs Heritage Center and Museum. The museum showcases the town's diverse history, from its early Native American inhabitants to its role in the Civil War and the Wild West era. It offers visitors a glimpse into the heart of Route 66 history, showcasing the era when the Mother Road was a bustling artery of American life. Inside the Heritage Center, visitors can explore a captivating array of exhibits that delve into the town's connection to Route 66. The front area of the museum may be reserved for group dining (room fee includes museum entrance). Ask for catering options when you make your arrangement.
